How much boating experience is needed to rent and drive a houseboat?
None.  Most of the marinas or houseboat rental agencies have made it so easy that almost anyone can do it.  The boats generally don't go very fast, the hulls are very durable, and the instructions are thorough.  Many marinas will also drive the boat in and out of the dock for you.  All that is left for you to do is find a cove that you like and tie off the boat.  In fact, tying the boat off, although relatively easy, may be the most difficult part of any houseboat trip.

Answer 2:

Is rafting really that dangerous?
Rafting can be dangerous.  That is a large part of its appeal.  On most trips though, even if someone falls in, the chances of being seriously hurt are pretty slim.  In addition, with the equipment and techniques used today, rafting has become much safer than in the past.  However, the biggest factor in making sure you have a safe and enjoyable trip is the outfitter.  Be sure to check safety records and procedures.  Also, an outfitter that has been around awhile will have a lot of valuable experience that goes a long way to making sure you have a safe trip.
